A fantastic time was had by all in the Yard

Across the weekend of 25/26 November we set up our special Victorian Yard display inside a private yard behind Greenlane Archaeology.

The weekend was a great success, yes it was cold, yes it was wet but we all had a great time showcasing how the majority of people were living in the Victorian period. We were so pleased with display, how it looked, how it felt and how many people came to visit.

We had many visitors take a trip back in time over the weekend as they entered the yard and we have had lots of positive feedback:

We loved it. I had never thought about life in Ulverston for the poor in Victorian times and I was amazed by the stories of farm labourers heading into the towns to find work. Our boys were enthralled by the stories in the Curiosity exhibition.

It was a great experience. Great stories in the Cabinet of Curiosities, and a wonderful insight into Victorian Ulverston. I can't begin to imagine trying to get a good night's sleep tied to Market Cross to stop falling over.

I loved the yard- the costumes and the way you all talked to visitors. Very informative. Thanks!

This feedback is hugely appreciated and really helps to motivate us as we go forward into the coming year and our coming events.

A huge thank you to all who came to see us and to those who donated. We are a non-profit group made up of like-minded volunteers, so every penny we make goes straight back into putting on our living history displays across the year.
